Intermezzo - Bank financing in Czech

Once approaching a bank in Czech, be aware of following:
a) branch in country and branch in Prague, even than same bank, have totally different approach and offers different services
b) if you would like to finance your idea, dont limit yourself only by loans, you may use guarantees, stand/by LCs, leasing, factoring or forfeiting
c) support for international transaction is very poor in big banks in Czech. 2 of top 3 banks are owned by small local banks in the Europe (Ceska sporitelna by Erste, CSOB by KBC only KB is owned by bug group of SG)
d) CZK is not deep currency. May by hard to get suitable cash in January of February
e) SME bankers are used to thing locally, not even Middle-Europan way. Intercontinental approach is very rare to find
f) many companies in Czech suffer by the banks approach, they need to push banks to they limits to receive all the service they can receive
g) do not trust your L/C or guarantee department in bank. Usually they sit on their chair for long time and intercontinental or international knowledge or support is weak
h) by strict and fair, do not try to overplay
i) banks are generally in good conditions and bankers like to listen
j) risk is too much suspicious, u need to consider, that big banks didnt cut the portfolio in 2008-2010, what is holding theirs statistics too bad
k) UniCredit or Citi may be a good choice. Be carefull, they expect good management in return.
